Wooden tools for wood therapy

Wood therapy has become one of the most requested body treatments in Marbella, and for good reason: it is manual, non-invasive and the effects are noticeable. But there are also plenty of exaggerated promises around. In this article we explain, realistically, what you can expect and how long it takes.

What it is and how it works

Wood therapy uses wooden tools in different shapes (rollers, cups, contouring boards) that glide over the skin with a specific rhythm and pressure. Each tool has a role: some mobilise the tissue, others stimulate drainage and others help define the contour.

The result is a combination of a draining effect, better local circulation and work on the tissue that gives the skin a smoother, more even look.

Which results are realistic

  • Smoother skin with better texture and a less visible orange-peel effect.

  • A lighter feeling, especially in legs prone to fluid retention.

  • A more defined contour on the abdomen, waist, buttocks and thighs.

  • In the facial version, a sharper jawline and a brighter complexion.

What wood therapy does not do is remove fat like surgery or replace exercise and a balanced diet. It works best as part of a routine.

How many sessions before you see changes?

Many people notice softer skin and a lighter body from the very first session, mainly thanks to the draining effect. Changes in body shape take longer.

As a guide, we usually recommend a course of 8 to 10 sessions, once or twice a week. From the fourth or fifth session, changes are usually visible in the mirror and in how your clothes fit. Afterwards, one session every two to four weeks helps maintain the results.

What makes the difference

  • Consistency: regular sessions at the start work better than one-offs.

  • Hydration: drinking water supports the draining effect.

  • Movement: walking, swimming or training boosts the work on the tissues.

  • Diet: cutting down on salt and ultra-processed food helps you retain less fluid.

Does it hurt? Does it leave marks?

It is an intense technique in some areas, but it should not hurt. The pressure is adjusted throughout. Sensitive skin may show slight redness that fades within a few hours; with the right pressure there should be no bruising.

Who should avoid it?

It is not recommended during pregnancy, with significant varicose veins, phlebitis or a history of thrombosis, with wounds or skin infections, or straight after surgery without medical approval. If you have a health condition, check with your doctor first. You will find the full list on our wood therapy in Marbella page.

Wood therapy and drainage: the most popular combination

Many clients alternate wood therapy with lymphatic drainage: the first mobilises and sculpts, the second helps clear fluid. Another option is our Signature Ritual, which combines a body and facial treatment in a single visit.

In short

Wood therapy offers smoother skin, a lighter feeling and a more defined contour, with visible changes around the fourth or fifth session of an 8 to 10-session course. Consistency and a few simple habits make the results last. If you would like to start, book your session and we will come to your villa, hotel or apartment with everything needed.
